Temples, on the other hand, are where important rituals like baptisms and marriages occur and are known for sometimes incorporating unique architectural styles.Oakland is currently home to the only Bay Area Mormon temple and was dedicated in 1964. Monday’s press release said the Sunnyvale temple will be single-story and about 30,000 square feet, which is about a third of the size of the church’s Oakland location. The church’s leadership, overseen by its 98-year-old President Russell M. (BCN) -- The officer who was fired for shooting and killing a man during George Floyd protests in Vallejo in 2020 could be getting his job back after prevailing in arbitration. Michael Rains, attorney for the Vallejo Police Officers' Association, said that "several credible sources" have told him that Detective Jarrett Tonn's termination has been overturned in arbitration. Tonn was dismissed from the Vallejo force after he shot Sean Monterrosa, 22, of San Francisco, outside of a Walgreens store on Redwood Street during the early morning hours of June 2, 2020. The Vallejo Police Department has not commented on whether Tonn will return. Tonn and two other officers were responding to alleged reports of looting at the store in an unmarked pickup truck. NEW YORK (AP) — Comebacks are nothing new in tennis. There’s quite a history of that sort of thing, including by stars such as Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe, Martina Hingis, Bjorn Borg, Kim Clijsters and Andy Murray.Perhaps that’s why so many fans of Serena Williams hold out hope she’ll return after playing her last match a year ago at the U.S. Open.Williams recently gave birth to her second child, so she will not be at Flushing Meadows, but this year’s tournament features several players who left the tour for a significant amount of time and now are back. The Day 1 schedule included Ajla Tomljanovic — who beat Williams in the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s farewell contest last September but has been sidelined by injury since November — and 2021 Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady (injury), a winner in the afternoon. Then 2016 Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic (injured) and 2018 Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki (retirement) were scheduled to appear at Louis Armstro...Bryce Harper won’t make pitch for Shohei Ohtani to join Phillies in free agency
