Overflowing pond worries Round Rock neighborhood after recent rain ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Home and business owners near a retention pond in the Upper Brushy Creek area say an issue with its drainage system has lead it to overflow into the neighborhood.Keeley Phillips, co-founder of Mack Phillips Tennis Academy, said one of her tennis courts has been completely underwater for more than a week after several inches of rain last week.Phillips said at first, the rain started to fill the pond but once it subsided the water did not recede through a drain in its dam and water continued to overfill the area around the pond. She said she and other neighbors contacted the Upper Brushy Creek WCID which manages the pond about the issue. They say the agency shared plans to send out a diver on Monday to address a possible clog in the drainage system.Phillips said waiting for action has come at a cost to her students.“I have a lot of kids who are actually in the middle of their high school season right now who are relying on practice times and we're having to ...

Wild rally from three-goal deficit, beat Rangers, 5-4, in shootout Before the Wild’s game Saturday against the New York Rangers at Xcel Energy Center, Minnesota head coach Dean Evason expressed optimism that his team would be ready from the drop of the first puck.New York Rangers right wing Jimmy Vesey (26) scores a goal past Minnesota Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson (32) next to Wild defenseman Jacob Middleton (5) during the first period of an NHL hockey game Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, in St. Paul, Minn. (AP Photo/Craig Lassig)Asked how he would know, after just a few shifts, if the team was indeed ready, Evason said, “If we don’t get scored on. How’s that?”Evason got his answer, but it wasn’t the one he wanted. The NHL’s hottest team steamrolled the Wild early, scoring three goals in the first 6 minutes, 53 seconds to take control early, 3-0, and it looked like more of the same for a Minnesota team that entered with a four-game losing streak. But the Wild rallied with four straight goals to send the game to overtime — and take a 4-3 lead on Marco Rossi’s...

Towns, Edwards get going in Timberwolves’ win over Utah

Towns, Edwards get going in Timberwolves’ win over Utah Not only did the Timberwolves win Saturday — beating Utah 123-95 for their second straight victory at Target Center — they did it largely through the efforts of their two star players. That hasn’t often been the case this season as Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards have struggled in their own ways. Towns struggled to find clean looks from the power forward position, and Edwards struggled to work within the flow of Minnesota’s offensive system.Neither was an issue Saturday, as Towns took advantage of 1-on-1 opportunities in the post and beat Utah’s occasional looks of zone defense with his outside shot, while Edwards was consistently aggressive, but in a sensible way.Edwards finished with 31 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Towns tallied 25 points and seven boards.Just as importantly, Rudy Gobert finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Of his five buckets, at least three of them came off interior feeds from Towns and Edwards, who ingrat...

How the Gophers squandered many chances in Illinois loss Gophers coach P.J. Fleck said critical miscues in November games often go under the microscope for further examination.“You can’t make mistakes, and I thought we played really clean football for a long time, but there are some catastrophic things that happen,” Fleck said after a 27-26 loss to Illinois at Huntington Bank Stadium. “Whatever happens in November, good or bad, gets magnified.”There were plenty of slides to move under the lens for a much closer look after Saturday loss. Here are some of the biggest miscues:— Gophers kick returner Sean Tyler continued to be plagued by fumbling issues this season when he coughed up the opening kickoff. Illinois recovered the ball and took a 7-0 lead three plays later.Fleck showed faith by going back to Tyler after he fumbled yet again in the Michigan State win last week, but after his latest fumble, Tyler was immediately replaced on kickoff returns and didn’t have any carries as a running back Saturday.— Linebacker Cody Lindenberg and safet...
