A Los Angeles Dodgers fan’s marriage proposal on Opening Day came at a painful price.Cell phone cameras were rolling as a man wearing a Mookie Betts jersey ran onto the field during a break in the game, dropped down to a knee, and held up a ring box for his girlfriend who was seated in the outfield seats.Many in the crowd cheered, but those cheers quickly turned to gasps when, seconds later, a security guard blindsided the proposing fan, brutally tackling him to the ground. A fire at a Garden Grove strip mall Thursday night caused more than $1 million in damages, officials said.The blaze was reported around 8:40 p.m. at a strip mall in the 12500 block of Valley View Street, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.Responding crews saw flames coming from the roof of the building and the blaze was declared a second-alarm fire, prompting the response of more than 40 firefighters, OCFA Capt. Thanh Nguyen said. The roof collapsed during the firefight, but no injuries were reported.The blaze caused about $1 million in damages to the structure and additional $250,000 to the building’s contents, fire officials said.Firefighters were able to keep the blaze contained to four units.The cause remains under investigation.L.A. prepares for WWE extravaganza Wrestlemania 39

Woman, Young Girl Hurt after Pedestrian Collision near International BoulevardOAKLAND, CA (March 31, 2023) – Saturday at noon, a hit-and-run crash near 34th Avenue left a woman and a child with injuries.The incident happened on February 18th, just after 12:00 p.m., when officers received a report about a pick-up truck that struck a woman and a young girl.Officers arrived at the scene and found the two victims with serious injuries on the road. Medics transported them both to a local hospital where the child was reported to be in stable condition. Meanwhile, the woman has listed in a critical state but was in stable condition. (KRON) -- Three suspected robbers led police on a 100-mph high speed chase down Highway 101 through Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, and Petaluma Thursday night. Police used a spike strip and PIT maneuver to finally end the chase near the Sonoma County line. The three arrested men were identified by the Santa Rosa Police Department as James Edward Vines, 21, of Vallejo; Ettievy Coats, 23, of Vallejo; and Gregory Garcia, 23, of San Francisco.The incident began as an armed robbery at a Safeway grocery store at 2785 Yulupa Ave. in Santa Rosa. Police said three men dressed in ski masks stole several baskets full of merchandise before darting out of the store. When confronted by a clerk outside, the men brandished handguns and threatened to shoot the clerk, according to SRPD. (KRON) -- A Martinez woman has pleaded guilty Thursday to embezzling almost $1.4 million through her former employer Ramar Foods International in Pittsburg, the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office announced in a news release. Officials said Mary Antoinette Narvaez Hernandez, 60, committed crimes including felony grand theft embezzlement, identity theft, money laundering and tax evasion from 2016 to 2021.Hernandez was the account manager for Ramar Foods International. Officials said Hernandez embezzled a total of $1,399,342.84 from the company and failed to pay $97,568 in state taxes.
