CHICAGO — Wildfire smoke from Canada is lingering around the Chicago area longer than expected. An Air Quality Alert has been extended for the entire area through Thursday. It was originally supposed to end Wednesday at midnight.People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens should avoid strenuous outdoor activities, keep outdoor activities short. AURORA, Ill. — You can add another city in the Chicago area to the list of those who want the chance to be the new home of the Bears. This week, Aurora revealed that they've reached out to the NFL team to pitch the city as a place to build their new stadium. This comes a few weeks after the Bears revealed that the Arlington Park site, which they closed on in February and have begun demolition on this summer, is no longer their "singular focus" for a new home field.Per a city spokesperson, Aurora sent a two-page letter to the team's president and CEO Kevin Warren on behalf of Mayor Richard Irvin that included an invitation to visit the city. EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) – Exclusive video obtained by Nexstar's WJW shows an Ohio store clerk fighting back against an armed robber.“People fed up, you know?” said Dejea Steiner, who works at the Magic Wizard Smoke Shop in Euclid. “I come to work every day. AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Allegiant Air flight preparing to land at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Monday night had to "initiate a climb due to a small aircraft in proximity," the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement to KXAN. The video in this story is from KXAN News Today on June 29, 2023BRYAN, Texas (KXAN) – Brazos County officials said Wednesday test results showed the presence a bacteria linked to Legionnaires' disease in the HVAC system of one of the housing units at the Brazos County Jail. Officials said when the sheriff's office was told about the presence of the Legionella bacteria, "approximately 100 inmates were moved immediately as a precaution." The announcement said testing began after an employee was diagnosed but in a note to staff and inmates, the county said there no known cases at the jail. Smoke from Canadian wildfires is back and it will impact air quality today. The air quality index will land somewhere between the orange and red categories. Those will underlying breathing and heart illnesses should be cautious. ST. LOUIS -- The Heat Advisory continues for today into Friday for top temperatures that may reach over 100 degrees in Missouri. However, scattered storms in Illinois will cut down on the heat in areas east of St. Louis.Several clusters of strong to severe storms are forecast to drop for Iowa into central and then southern Illinois today into tonight. These storms may bring damaging winds, hail and even a tornado threat to the St. Louis area. Some of them may start to pop up at around 11 a.m. Thursday.The extreme heat will continue to be an issue in Missouri Friday and more storms are expected in Illinois, with St. Louis right in the middle of it all.
