AUSTIN (KXAN) – Texas lawmakers voted to temporarily attach the state's Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to another state agency, in order to help with data collection and management issues. The legislation, Senate Bill 1414, stems from a review earlier this year by the Sunset Advisory Commission, which found "unreliable and inconsistent" practices persisted at the Board in charge of regulating the state's animal doctors. Over the last six years, prior Sunset reviews had already highlighted similar problems. Growing up in Stevens Point, Wis., St. Paul Saints right-handed relief pitcher Austin Schulfer dreamed of playing major league baseball.OK, so it was with the Chicago Cubs, but his allegiance shifted in 2018 when the Twins selected him in the 19th round of the draft out of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. And, like the number of family members and friends who regularly make the drive west to CHS Field to see him play, Schulfer is warming to teams that play on the other side of the border.“Fortunately for Minnesota fans, I’m not a Packers fan,” Schulfer said prior to the Saints’ 14-1 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Saturday night.“When I was growing up my dad was a (San Francisco) 49ers fan. But I am a Badgers fan, so there is the Gophers/Badgers thing. But I think it’s fun. And I’ll play both sides. If I’m at a Gophers game I’ll cheer for the Gophers — as long as they aren’t playing the Badgers.”The 27-year-old Schulfer’s dream appears close to coming to fruition. Over his last six outings,...Antonio Brown stayed off the field at MVP Arena

SARATOGA – Hollister’s 4-0 Central Coast Section Open Division victory became official on the West Valley College scoreboard at 5 p.m, but the Haybalers won the mental game a few minutes after the 3 p.m. first pitch. It was only one run in the top of the first inning, but when Hollister’s Grace Peffley drove a grounder into right field and a runner across the plate, the Balers got the emotional edge over the St. Francis Lancers.“When they scored the run in the first inning, I could feel the energy drop,” St. Francis pitcher Shannon Keighran said. “As a captain, that’s really hard to see.”It didn’t hurt that Hollister executed a strategy that turned St. Francis’ fearsome bats into popup machines. Starting pitcher Sophia Mariottini pounded the inside part of the plate and dared the Lancers to pull the ball into gaps, something St. Francis was unable to do. “They beat us in every facet of the game,” St. Francis coach Mike Oakland said. “They pitched better, they hit better, they ...Latest news
